John not liking him would not surprise Sherlock. Most people didn't, right from the get go. It was just something he expected and it probably factored into his typical behavior of spending the majority of his time alone, alone with Kaiju parts. Slicing them apart and getting inside them, trying to see everything he could under a microscope. The most human interaction he got beyond Mycroft nagging him constantly was the mousy Molly who came around sometimes, offering to help him with things. Probably the one person who involuntarily came around to be near Sherlock on their own accord.
But back to John. He hears him yes, ignores him, they're almost there and... wait not, he's lost him. Sherlock stops and turns back around, finding John gawking at the Mark-Vs. Coming up to stand beside him he'll take in the sight as well, as it really is amazing, before he looks down at him.
"... if you're done here, there is something I believe you'd rather see." Where he had been taking him originally. He turns then, continuing on.
"Come on, John." Stop staring at the Jaegers, at least those ones. Whether he follows him or not, Sherlock heads off to the left, down a bit and eventually stops, looking out at where the engineers are putting the finishing touches on a familiar 'face' John might recognize.
"She's had a few touch ups, reworked the plating and fixed any damage from your lost outing. Good as new." Sherlock says, eyes roaming over the impressive form of Vatican Cameo. Sherlock was actually quite invested in the Jaeger, having helped with some of the upgrades himself. A lot of his experiments and research on the Kaiju went into better preparing the Jaegers to defend against them, to fight better against what they could throw at them.
It was the reason he'd been rather unimpressed with his initial meeting of John Watson, one of the pilots of said Jaeger. He'd expected more. Though Sherlock was being quick to judge, like most were with him.
