Sherlock doesn't speak, he just watches John. Takes in the way the other man reacts to seeing his Jaeger again after all this time. It's like watching two lovers meet, if one can be so dramatic. Every movement and look, the way John breathes even just speaks volumes.
Maybe he was wrong about John Watson. How could someone who loved Vatican Cameo as much as he obviously did be a disappointment? There was a passion there as John finally spoke, he could hear the want, the need to be inside her again and it was not unlike his own at times. Sherlock had never piloted a Jaeger, not a real one. Simulations and all that of course, he was excellent in that regard, but every time he got a small amount of time inside Vatican Cameo, making sure that everything was working properly, that any new implements were put in correct... he found himself not wanting to leave. There is a part of him now that wonders what it would be like to Drift with someone, someone like John Watson, who had been inside her and piloted her before.
It's an intimacy he's never had with anyone and the curiosity burns in Sherlock.
"It is, but you won't be able to have a look yet." He actually feels bad telling John this, "I'm sorry." He is, truly, for once he means it. It's not often Sherlock shows much emotion in this regard to anyone, beyond annoyance and frustration at how simple most people are.
"I'm to give you a proper look around and show you to where you'll be staying. Tomorrow you will be meeting your possible Drift partners. Then after that I believe Vatican Cameo should be fully ready for the both of you." Once he's found someone. A part of Sherlock hates to say that. He doesn't want anyone else inside her, John had a right sure, that's fine, he was her pilot, but as far as he was concerned no one else deserved to be inside her conn-pod, to touch anything.
He thinks this even after being the one to handpick the list of people John would go through to find his new Drift partner. Something Mycroft probably had him do just to spite him.
